Machine-woven rugs are available in a wide range of different materials and material combinations. There are carpets produced mechanically using natural materials, such as wool and cotton, but carpet is also commonly manufactured using synthetic materials and fibers. Carpet manufacturing is constantly developing, and there are now materials used for carpet that makes them hard to get dirty and resistant to pet stains, even if these materials are still relatively expensive but still sometimes need professional cleaning like the guys found here. All materials have their own wonderful characteristics, but also they do have some disadvantages.
Viscose
Viscose is a synthetic fiber that resembles silk and is produced from natural materials such as cotton or cellulose. This material is very flexible, so it occupies an important place among the synthetic fibers. Due to its characteristics it is frequently used in carpet-making to improve the details and give the rug a beautiful shine. At times, some carpets in viscose loose fibers due to the use of raw materials of low quality. The carpet has shorter fibers that rise to the surface with use. However this small problem can be avoided by washing the carpet after manufacturing and in addition this increases the brightness of the carpet.
Wool
The wool is usually associated with sheep but it can also come from other animals. Once cut, the wool is spun and dyed. It is a very common material in carpets. Wool carpet has natural stain resistance, is durable and static free. The wool used in the machine-woven carpets is partially reinforced with a plastic fiber to increase its resistance to wear and breakage.
Synthetic Wool- Polypropylene
Polypropylene is a synthetic fiber having a low impact on the environment. It is one of the most common thermoplastics in the market. This material is very resistant to use and heat, but is sensitive to the cold. Synthetic wool carpets are very affordable and are suitable for people who are allergic to natural fibers. This material does not release fibers and is easy to clean. It is often used in the manufacture of machine made carpets due to its characteristics.
Cotton
Cotton is a textile fiber from cotton plants. It is a material that has a good resistance to wear, easy to clean and is often used for the manufacture of clothing and other textile articles. Cotton is much more robust than jute, for example, which is used in large number of carpet.
Chenille
The chenille yarn is produced from different materials such as for example cotton, rayon or acrylic and is produced by twisting a wire around a thicker thread. Because of this torque, the thread becomes thicker, softer and produces interesting patterns in relief thanks to thread fibers protruding from twisted threads. Usually used in machine woven carpets along with viscose.
Jute
Jute is a subtropical plant that grows in places like the India, China and Thailand. Jute is produced from the stems of the plant. Jute fibers are often short, which makes them difficult to turn into yarn. By adding lubricant to the jute the length necessary to be woven can be accomplished. The product is relatively cheap to produce, and is used in numerous threads of warp for knitting machine used for woven rugs, which creates a slightly stiffer carpet, unlike cotton which makes it more flexible.
